South Africa
South Africa isn't one trip. It's a country of many landscapes, stories and ways to travel — which is exactly why it makes sense to build a programme around you.
Diversity in one country
Why South Africa
A single trip can combine wildlife with mountains, coast, cities, wine country and encounters with everyday life. Different parts of the country have a different atmosphere, landscape and pace, so a trip can be adventurous, exploratory, relaxed, or a bit of everything.
Eco-Trails Africa doesn't approach South Africa as a catalogue of ready-made tours. Zuzana has lived in the country for around 27 years, knows local conditions, and guides the trip in person. The programme can draw not only on well-known places, but on practical experience and an understanding of how things fit together.
A country of contrasts
What you can experience
Safari and wildlife
Wildlife viewing in national parks and reserves can be woven into the rest of the trip, rather than treated as one isolated item on the programme.
Nature, landscape and mountains
Canyons, mountain passes, high plateaus, forests and open landscape leave room for views, walks and longer stops.
Coast and ocean
A long coastline lets you combine the trip with beaches, cliffs, seaside towns and landscape shaped by both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
Cape Town and the Cape
The city, mountains, ocean, history and surrounding landscape make up an area where, depending on your interests, you can spend several very different days.
Wine and gastronomy
Wine regions, local cuisine and shared meals can be a natural part of the trip, not just a stop between sights.
History, culture and people
South Africa's history, present-day society, diverse cultures and everyday encounters along the way all help you understand the country.
No fixed template
What a trip can look like
One trip might give more room to safari and nature, another to the coast, mountains, culture or gastronomy. Some people want to see the main sights, others prefer a calmer pace and lesser-known stops. Often it makes sense to combine both naturally.
The route is built around your interests, time, budget and the way you like to travel. Zuzana prepares the programme individually and guides it in person along with a driver. A small group also means the trip can respond flexibly to weather, local conditions and interesting opportunities along the way.
The right time for your trip
When to travel
The right time depends on which parts of the country you want to visit and what matters most to you. Conditions vary by region, and a different season can suit safari, the coast, the mountains, or exploring the Cape.
When planning your trip, we'll choose a period together that fits your route and the experiences you're after. Detailed seasonal and practical information will be covered in a separate part of the website.
Personal, with local knowledge
A trip built for you
You don't need to arrive with a finished itinerary. Just tell us what draws you, how much time you have, how many of you are travelling, and what budget makes sense for you. Zuzana will talk through the options with you and put together a trip that's realistic, varied and genuinely enjoyable for you.
The result isn't a one-size-fits-all package, but a carefully considered trip with personal contact and a guide who knows South Africa as her own home.
